If you're having problems with your TalkIP, you may be able to find help here to solve it yourself quickly and easily.
Problem: I don't have a dial tone.
What you should do:
- Verify that your phone is plugged into the “PHONE 1” port on the SPA.
- Verify your Internet connection, try browsing to a web site. If your Internet connection is down, please contact your Internet provider.
- Proceed with one of the following depending on the TalkIP adapter you have:

Problem: I get a fast busy signal every time I try placing a call.
What you should do:
- Make sure you are dialing the correct sequence.
For example: 1-xxx-xxx-xxxx (11 digits total) for North American calls; or 011-xxxxxxxx... for international calls.

Problem: I get poor line quality.
What you should do:
- Try a different telephone.
- This might be caused by congestion on the Internet. If access to normal web sites is slow, or you are in the process of downloading/uploading a large file, this is the most likely cause.
- SPA-2100 only: Go to the WAN configuration web page and set QoS Settings (Quality of Service) to enable the priority of voice communication when upload traffic causes the available bandwidth to become congested.

Problem: I keep getting disconnected in the middle of a call.
What you should do:
- This might be caused by congestion on the Internet. If access to normal web sites is slow, or you are in the process of downloading/uploading a large file, this is the most likely cause.
- Turn off file-sharing applications such as Kazaa, BitTorrent, FTP Client/Server, IRC File Servers.
- If this disconnection occurs during a long distance communications, try making local calls, see if disconnection occurs.
- Make sure yor Internet connection is still working when you are disconnected. If it is your Internet connection that is ending your calls, please contact your Internet provider.
