General Information on the G3 SmartDialer

What is the G3 SmartDialer and how does it work?

The G3 SmartDialer is a free mobile application that you can download to your smartphone. It allows you to make low rate long distance calls directly from your contact list, address book, phone screen or email view without having to dial long access numbers or PINs. With just a click, the application dials your long distance number and launches the G3 service, where your call will then be routed to the G3 Network and allow you to save on expensive long distance charges from your cellular provider.

How do I download the SmartDialer application?

There are three easy ways you can download the G3 SmartDialer:

If you do not have an existing account with G3, you will be prompted to sign up and create an account, or try the free DEMO version.

How do I download the application?

Step 1

You have two options in downloading the free G3 SmartDialer for your Android:

Option 1: From the G3 Telecom web site

Download the G3 SmartDialer application to your Android, if you haven't done so. You may also try out the free demo version:

From the email you will receive from us, click on the link provided from your Android to install the G3 SmartDialer.

Option 2: From the Android Market

Launch the Android Market icon on your Android's main menu screen. On the search screen, type in "G3 Dialer" or "G3 Telecom". Click to install the application.

When downloading from our website, please select 'allow third-party application installation' to install the G3 SmartDialer.

How do I dial my calls?

Once you have successfully installed the application to your mobile, launch it by clicking on the 'G3 Dialer' icon. Enter your phone number and click on 'Update Profile'.

Simply select a contact from your contacts list, or enter the phone number (keypad icon) you wish to call. The SmartDialer automatically routes your call to the G3 Network, thus saving you from dialing any access numbers or PINs.

It's that easy! Start enjoying the lowest long distance rates offered only by G3!

Important Reminder:

When the SmartDialer app is dialing a destination number, users will not be able to hear a key tone as Android does not provide this feature. Although you will hear nothing during this process, the SmartDialer will be in fact dialing in the background.

How do I make sure all my long distance are routed through the G3 SmartDialer?

To ensure that you are using the G3 service every time you call long distance, set the 'G3 SmartDialer Service' option to either 'Prompt' or 'On'. Save your changes.

You should also be able to hear our automated voice prompt announce your account balance after you dial your long distance number.

How often do I need to update my profile?

You will only need to update your profile when you first use the application, and whenever you travel outside your location.

What are exception numbers?

These are the area codes that you do not want to dial with the G3SmartDialer. By default the Exception Number(s) are the set to the area code of your cellular phone number. You can add or delete additional area codes. For example if you want to add 905, you would have to enter - 905,1905 in the Exception Numbers.

What is a Location ID?

By default, it is the first 7 digits of your mobile phone number including Country Code. The access number is based on your Location ID. If you change your Location ID and select 'Update Profile,' the access number will also change according to your new Location ID.

When you Travel

Change your Location ID whenever you travel outside your city or state to ensure that the access number(s) you will be using is local to your area.

For example, if you are traveling to Montreal, you can change your location ID to '5144995':

1514 - Country code + Montreal area code
499 - first three digits of your mobile number (or any 3-digit numbers will do)

Click on 'Update Profile' to edit your Location ID. After entering your new Location ID, click on 'Update Profile' again to retrieve your new local access numbers.

What is a Pause Code?

Pause codes are automated and carrier-specific codes that are used to instruct the receiving system to pause before entering the numbers that follow them in a dialing sequence. Most common pause codes are "p", "," (comma) and ";" (semicolon).

The majority of Android phones use "," (comma) to pause when dialing, but a few Androids use "p" (small p). If the SmartDialer should fail to dial any number, try changing the default Pause Code setting on the application. You may need to update the automated pause code to one that is specific or appropriate for your phone model.

How do I download the application?

Step 1

How do I dial my calls?

Go to your 'Downloads' folder and launch the application by clicking on the 'G3 Dialer' icon. If this is your first time using the application, a screen will appear prompting you to update your profile. Click on 'Update Profile'.

How do I download the application?

Tap to launch the 'G3 Dialer' icon, where you will be taken to the 'Settings' screen.

If using the G3 SmartDialer for the first time, enter your mobile number and save (your Location ID will be automatically generated for you). Then click on 'Update Profile'

To ensure that you are using the G3 service every time you call long distance, set the 'G3 SmartDialer Service' option to either 'Prompt' or 'On'. Save your changes.

Select a contact from your contacts list, or enter the phone number (G3 keypad icon) you wish to call. The SmartDialer automatically routes your call to the G3 Network, thus saving you from dialing any access numbers or PINs.

Reminder:

You must RE-LAUNCH the G3 SmartDialer every time you make a call. After your call is completed using the G3 SmartDialer, the application will automatically exit.
